Quick question, apologies if it has been covered before. Have Morris mini engines ever been used in a mighty boy??? I understand the weight of one of these engines ise quite heavy, but they are up there in capacity.

Mini Engine
Nope, hasn't been attempted for two reasons:
1) You can only legally install an engine that is the same age as the body, or newer.
2) There are about a million better motor conversion options.

Ok, maybe I should have said Rover Mini engine (issue one solved) though did not know about the engine age requirement. I am suprised that you find the engines so bad, with the alloy crossflow head and fuel injection are good for close to 100Kw N/A. I would have thought the weight may have been an issue though. Cheers for the feed back.

Brayden, point one is a wives tale, you only need to comply with the emissions requirements of the car at the time that it was built. The age of the engine thing was a guideline that has gathered a cult following but is incorrect and negates the fact that the age of the engine is pointless unless you have the other bits and pieces to make it emission compliant.

It isn't a wives tale, just a 'rule of thumb' way of summarising compliance requirements. Easier than trying to explain ADRs and what-not.

Working with these engines everyday, believe me when i say they are definatly heavier than the suzuki engine/gearbox. Looked at doing this before i went the supercharged route, but figured it just wouldnt be right. Was going to call it the "Minuki"zeek73 wrote: I understand the weight of one of these engines ise quite heavy, but they are up there in capacity.
