is this a fair price to get the boy painted?
A full wrap with printed and laminated vinyl is between $3K and 5K (for a full size vehicle). It needs to be laminated, otherwise it fades with washing and sun exposure. A smaller car would be $2K.

wouldnt the main part of the cost of painting a mboy come from the rust removal and primer? which youd need to do either way
I would tend to agree either way preperation is the key for a good result.
I think the biggest difference is that changing vinyl colour would be easier later on.
I do like the idea of a product that is potentially DIY with some practice
What is expensive is not the material ($800-$1200) but the graphic design ( to make sure all parts of the design work well across the vehicle) and the application. On average it takes 2 people 10 hours to prep the vehicle and complete the application. That is why a plain colour is easier and a lot cheaper

Billy, in 3 hours someone can wrap a car for a show, not to last years . It takes 2 hours alone to prep properly the surface and edges. For a show no one cares, if you don't do it in a commercial application, the vinyl will come off in a month from all leading edges.Billie wrote:10 hours? I'v personally seen a car wraped in less than 3 hours by one person. Wrapping a car is a hell of alot easier than painting a car. Rust removal on the other hand.
Some cars with deep recesses takes even longer and if you need to remove parts ( lights, vents, badges....) time flies
