Thank god this only applies to new P platers, I would get screwed over :(

I dont think restricting the power of the car will do any good

1. people who drive like dicks, will always drive like dicks.
2. people who have powerful cars will probably break the law, not display P's and the like.
3. a shit little 4 cylinder laser no turbo or mods can crack 140 - 150 (I did that with my brothers car) and that thing was really unsafe to go that speeds, it has no mods and FA power.

why limit power. no point if shit boxes can get up to over 120 km\h. only real way is to limit speeds of car to the 100 KM

1. People learn the limits of cars during the P plate time, especially those who "drive like dicks". Better to be on the limit of something tame than something that could make you dead in an instant. They may get over their 'driving like a dick' stage, and at the very least be put in their next car with a bit more skilll under the belt.

2. Then they'll get done for not displaying P's. In victoria anyway if you dont have your P's up, that plus an offense of 1 more point (speeding over 15km/h i think is 1 point), loss of licence for 12 months.

3. Of course all cars can be made to do unsafe speeds, but its about risk minimisation. Who would go 140km/h in a laser, vs 200km/h in a quicker car. Which is more dangerous?

4. Limiting speeds is something that will probably not happen due to the sheer number of cars required to be limited. If all new cars are limited i'm sure there will be a $200 solution to remove the limiter, all those with the alto's know what i'm talking about (in some cases simple as cutting a wire).

Speeding isnt the issue, its "hoon" mentality.
altoworks.info now being domain squatted... joy.
