I found the pod's with the 3" fitting on them fit straight over the carby. The strandard pod looks like this:
...///\\\
..////\\\\
./////\\\\\
//////\\\\\\
...l____l
This one won't fit straight onto the carby due to the bonnet...
But I managed to find on that was shaped like this:
. /''''''''''''''''\
/________\
.....l____l
I payed about 30bucks for it, it was one of those cheapo imitation K&N lookalikes...

Did the job though, I'll have a look around and see if I can find a photo of it...

This is what i initially wanted, but as Colin spoke about the hot air in the engine bay not doing much for the freeflow intake i think im a gonna figure out some place i can take the plumbing to so that the carby is fed with fresh cold air, or if i got a hood scoop just above the carby then the contraption will work, wont it??

The contraption!!!
