Gawd you guys like to make hard work of something simple don't you?
to bleed the brakes on your own, all you need is a jar with a lid (a peanut paste jar works good but make sure its plastic not glass so when you drop it or bang it against the metal somewhere it doesn't break) get about 600mm of plastic tubing that fits tightly over the nipple drill a hole in the top lid of the jar that the plastic can fit tightly into .
Using your trusty open ender crack the nipple so it just seals the fluid in, push the end of the plastic tube over it.
put a loop into the tube, this is important, make sure the loop is vertical. the idea is that fluid comes into the tube, circles around the loop, and goes out the bottom of the tube into the jar. because the loop is there it makes an airlock in the tube that fills with fluid and prevents air
going back into the cylinder.
just do a tiny loosening of the nipple fluid should dribble out.MAKE SURE THERE IS FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND CHECK IT EVERY 3 OR 4 PUMPS pump the pedal till bubbles disappear, you can stop pumping and check the tube you will see the bubbles if there are any, also you will see the new fluid going through.
tighten the nipple and go to next wheel.
Bleeding Brakes
mowog that procedure would work fine for a normal bleeding of the brakes, but nova has emptied the whole system 'dry'......
there is going to be air trapped everywhere which makes it hard for the master cylinder to overcome and push fluid through the lines....
moral of the story never empty your brake system, just cycle through new fluid.....you will replace 95% of the old fluid this way and if you compress the brake cylinders on the calipers you will replace 99% of the fluid.
