Anyone got any info/details on the SupperCarry diff/axles?
Are they available in LSD?
I am looking at options to fit an LSD in my cappo at the moment.

Supercarry has a solid beam axle, drum brakes, no LSD option.

That will create the well known cig locker, not a LSD!

Only for off road use, otherwise buy a proper mini spool center, they are not that expensive for most borg warner type diff's.
On a FWD car tho, you wouldn't want a locked diff. Imagine trying to steer the damn thing!

Swift guys weld their diffs up, apparently it isn't a problem when racing, but not something you would do in a car you do the shopping with.

Or anything with a locked diff, locked the diff on my old celica once, lasted 3 hours of town driving till both axles snapped from metal fatigue

thats no good, i love old celica's. im on the lookout for a 71. they seem to last on street driven commodores and stuff. i read on a suzuki lj80 forum about welding them up, never got around to doing it though. i started but all the nuts had rusted on to tight ( i found this offcourse after pulling an inch off mudd off them).

silicas are nice but rust with normal air humidity of 1%.
Locked diffs are nasty for the road prefer 250dollars Phamtom grip style copies.
Or better a Winters all alloy rear end with quickchange. Just a little lever for the
rear to change from one ratio to another eg. drag strip 4.4 or 4.6 and road 3.9.

would it be correct to say that variable diff would only suit rear wheel drive cars, eg. not able to be installed into a diff that sits between the engine and gearbox in a front wheel drive unit?

All FWD car's i've seen have the diff integrated into the gearbox, which would make it a lot of fun to have such a setup as per above.
