Are you's sure? My pod is right at the front of the engine bay, near the grill. Plus makes a deep groaning noise now.

But its not to close to he exhaust. I thought black conducted heat the most, so wouldnt that plastic plate just heat up and make the air cleaner hot?

A black surface is the most solar absorbant, but that means nothing under a bonnet where there is no direct sunlight. Radiant heat relies on the properties of the material, and fibreglass/plastic doesn't conduct heat very well.
Also who is to say that the intake panel isn't lined with insulation underneath? That's what I would do!

Ahh. Or easiest solution wrap the manifold in heat wrapping? Hmm i think i'll do that.

That would be easier to do on extractors, but i can't see how you would get the stock manifold wrapped up good enough.

its just some 1mm steel i had laying around. really easy to make, ive still got the template from the one i made
