This is one of only two I know of in Australia that are road registered.
Seats are standard.

Yeah I saw one for sale recently, looked identical to your one, is it one and the same? I think the asking price was about 6500??

Probably the same one.
The other one that I know of is white on white... yeck.
This one was a couple of grand less than $6500 though.

Kei,
Nice ride.. I must say your blue one looks alot nicer than the white.
Whats the performance like?
I'm curious to what these sort of cars do 0-100km/hr.

Thanks AJ,
The performance is quite nice.
Factory figures say that the F5A Alto will get from 0-100kph in the low-mid 9 second field, or, possibly a bit quicker than a GTi swift.
The car understandably doesn't have a great deal of power far over 100kph.

Hi Kei,
What size (and offset) are the wheels on your RSR?
I still have the absolutely *awful* standard alloys on my RSX and I'll be looking at some better alternatives - the wheels you have fill the guards nicely without being rediculously huge. . .
Also, you had mentioned somewhere that your car had a gearbox problem. . .what *was* that problem? I've noticed a fair bit of movement in the inner CVs on my car (worn diff bearings?) andd am wondering if your was a similar problem. .

I'm pretty upset at the moment.
Turns out the rattle in my alto is coming from the crankshaft or gudgeon pin.
I'm going to need a new engine by the looks of it to go with the new gearbox. Previous owner said everything was great and that the rattle was a loose guard removed to find the engine number.
It's going to end up costing me a ridiculous amount of money.
No more second hand cars for me.

Sorry to hear about your Alto, Kei.
I'm having enough trouble just tracking down a cam belt for my RS-X let alone whole motors.
Although. . . .having has a good look over the motor now, it *looks* as though the block casting is the same as the old local F5 motors. PRoviding your head etc is all OK maybe it would be possible to stick a local bottom end under the twin cam head?

I wouldn't panic too much. a rattly gudgeon is not terminal, you do need to fix it but a new set of pistons will do that at not too much cost and you can do the bearings at the same time. If it's the bearings, which I feel is more likely, you may be up for a reground crank but if you catch it early enough the crank might be ok.
How does the noise announce itself? Big ends usually are a sort of sharp knock like two dry sticks hitting together, usually at idle or when you are on the cruise after accelerating to normal speed and letting the accelerator back a notch, on the coast sort of. Mains are a heavy thumping knock when accelerating hard in 3rd or 4th gear from a low speed, gudgeon are a sort of light rattle at most speeds, piston slap is more obvious when the engine is cold and lessens as the engine heats up.
Whatever you do, do it NOW not next week or when you have the money.. A broken piston or thrown bearing can demolish your engine. I have an F8 with ventilated engine block to demonstrate.
It will have the benefit when fixed that you know the engine is sound when racking up 5 to 6 grand in 3rd.

It's a light rattle at most speeds.
Doesn't make the sound when coasting or when not on the gas.

You do know that engine's redline is up at 10,000RPM right?
