Sounds like the amp is going into protection mode. This can be caused by poor wiring to the amp, bad wiring to the sub, or something wired up incorrectly, causing the amp to overload.

If the amp wasn't getting enough power then it would just cut out and come straight back on.

i noticed something like that with mine, when i turn it up really loud the amp will overload, cutting out the sub (amp still on), then the amp will kick back in and the process repeats. i avoid this by not turning it up that loud. i have found that cheaper small wattage ams dont like loud music as much as a bigger amp.

the lights thing sounds like bad ground to me ?? i had that problem at one stage, from what ive heard amps have their own internal capacitors thats why they work for a bit then go into protection mode after havin em cranked for a bit cause it uses that little bit extra juice i suppose ??

also i would reccomend if your amp has RCA outputs to just run another small mono block amp for the sub or something, mite take care of it if all else fails.
