Sadly my Alto project took a backwards step as soon as it arrived in my driveway, and never looked like recovering.

My passion for bikes over cars has me selling this to fund a 400cc or 125cc track/race bike.

For those who remember me, I ran altoworks.info before I lost interest once the board was hacked and let it die.

On to the pictures. Here are the current ones.

Specs:

1989 Alto Works i.e. Turbo
Driveline: 5sp + constant AWD
Engine: 550cc SOHC turbo. (+ spare engine +2WD auto trans, minus turbo)
Tyres: ~30km driven on new Hankook Silica tyres. Sitting on 13" rims.

Here is the list I've created, for what is required to get it on the road (In Victoria)

Side Intrusion Bars (Vic only)
Drivers mirror glass
Rear seat platform (or just remove/cover holes for the rear seat mounting, they just need to be sure you're not going to register it and replace the rear seats)
Catalytic Converter (Vic only - to comply with emissions)

The surface rust is cosmetic only, and would be recommended to sand and respray, which isn't costly for a flat white paintjob.

The engine hasn't been run for about 8 months, but when tested previously it ran fine. I plan on draining the old fuel from the lines + tank and running it again soon.

I will put this on ebay for $2000 starting bid, but make me an offer I can't refuse in the mean time.

Comes with all import documentation, and comes under the "15 year rule" (now pre-1988) rule, so it's your only chance to get an '89 alto of this model!!

Can transport at your cost. Should be roughly $200 to adelaide/sydney, more to Perth/Brisbane based on previous experiences.

Yeah i've been struggling with the decision for a while, but being a full time student means that getting the cash together to do everything I want to it is quite difficult.

I ran the engine over the weekend, the fuel is a couple of years old so it's not surprising it was pinging at idle.

I didn't get to drive it so not sure how it boosts. I wasn't keen to do so as i'm not sure whether the turbo is actually getting an oil feed (the turbo that originally came with the car was blown, i've since replaced it).

The spare engine had done 56k k's and ran perfectly, with the exception of the water pump.

Between the two engines, there's absolutely no reason why you wouldn't be able to have a perfectly running one.

Hi, is the Alto still available? Where in Melbourne are you, because I would be interesting in viewing the car if it's still around. Thanks

Sale concluded. Car is now gone to a great home, to a true kei car maniac :)

Sad to see it go, but it had it's time and I'll find a new hot hatch project to drain my pockets.

So who is the new owner? Do they know about this forum?

The new owner is from Kempsey, NSW. His son also has an alto works (green one with a F6A (possibly K6A) engine), so hopefully they can find their way here.
