I need a running F5A engine if anyone has one lying around, I really need a reliable not smoking F5A, I'm in the Brisbane area if there's one out there..
My Mighty Boy is my daily driver for work so the missus has the other car during the day. Today I drove the Mighty Boy down to the Gold Coast, checked all fluids etc before I left, anyway dumb arse me forget to put the radiator cap back on and subsequently cooked the motor at the oxenford turn off.
Can anyone please help me out??
Cheers, Shane.

There is an F5a block at Maleny - it turns over but I am unsure of its condition.
The carby is finished ( cancer ) but the rest is there.

I have one sitting in my shed, swapped from F5a to F8a. I was going to make a gocart with that engine and all other spare parts from my other mighty boy. I am looking at getting a F6A or B turbo engine so i will be getting rid of the F8a soon too. How much are you willing to pay for the F5a?

Hey iceman,
I am very keen, I am unsure how much they are worth, how much did you have in mind?? Also was it running good before you removed it?? ie, no smoke or leaks etc..
Cheers, Shane.

Not sure, will bench test this weekend if possible, received the car with both engines as spares. Guy i bought it of said it was running fine when he pulled it out. So my mate and i fitted the 800cc. (Well i helped as i am not a mechanic)
I will get back to you soon.

Hi iceman,
Did you happen to find some time over the weekend to bench test the motor??
No worries if you haven't got around to it yet, just wanted yoy to know I'm still interested..
Cheers, Shane.

Jeez i feel a bit

, that engine that i have as a spare is actualy a F8B. Rang the guy up and he said that i must have misunderstood. He blew up his F5A and bougth two F8B one to be fitted and other one as spare. So the one sitting in my shed is actually a F8B.
Sorry mate

That F5B at Maleny was running just a few months before I bought it - the problem with the carbie & dizzy was simply water damage due to poor storage conditions.
I will check things out further on the weekend. If it still turns & you have the required ancillaries I would gladly part with it - say $50.00 you collect.

Sounds like a steal gadj, I presume I could just rip out my current engine and chuck in the one you have?? Was it running good just before you got it??
