:? :? :?
Hi
Have trolled the site regarding batteries for 85 MB which is to be reborn to original or slighly upgraded.:
I have the chance to get a Yangzhou Apollo 12v 9 plate 240CCA
from the guy that I got my other spares, belts, etc from. He wants $89. He usually sells them for sit on mowers .{ no jokes about the Mighty Boys power please ]
it would fit the battery holder perfectly and I believe Brayden says somewhere he runs a 220 CCA
The question I have for you guys is although I quess this battery would be correct .
! Is there another type that you know of avaiable since this one has bolt on terminals and the paddock basher I got had no battery but is set up for round teriminals .?
could just rewire them but it feels like going backwards.
2 Is there a larger capacity battery around that would still fit under bonnet without changes to holder within a reasonable price range ?

You're spot on about one of my utes. The snot rocket runs a 220CCA battery that is also used in large ride-on lawnmowers (Kubotas etc). It has bolt-on terminals. Would have to check the brand and model number for you through.
I've never had problems running such a small battery, however with the EFI I've noticed a minor voltage drop, so I'm thinking of upgrading to a small Oddysey or dry cell.

The other ute runs a Swift battery. Still fits easily within the battery tray and has 330CCA from memory. Posts are clamp-on style though, so I had to change them over. Make is ACDelco, but again I'd have to check the part number for you.

Checked the part numbers - turns out I have already upgraded the battery in the snot rocket.

Both my utes now have the same battery: SuperCharge Classic 330CCA. Model number for the clamp post version is SN40ZL, and the bolting post version is SN40ZAL.

Enjoy!

Same battery that I run, and they are friendly on the wallet too.

Yeah, 'bout $100. They're also maintenance free.

Mabye we can scrap the PC and just go telepathic
Great news now I just have to trace a local supplier and go the way you suggest with the Swift battery

I converted my bolt on terminals to clamps so all my cars have the same fittings to make it easier to swap batteries when needed. All went to the large terminal to give better contact, and all to the same configuration, as some batteries have the positive/negative on different sides of the battery. I distrust bolt ons, have always had some grief eventually with them, am running the 330 cca I think, anyway fits the other cars as well. remember a large battery need to be run enough to charge up, and puts more stress on the suspension.

I've got a battery in mine that i bought @ Supercheap, it's about 270CCA IIRC and it takes a lot of punishment before it can't spin the engine enough to fire it up.

Cheers
