Hey everyone.
I'm looking at purchasing a two stroke '79 carry.
Are there any major problems i should be looking at with these?
Also the brakes are dodgy as all hell...need pumping 4 or 5 times before it even looks like stopping!...basiclly I would like to know if I can upgrade to later model parts without any mojor dramas.
Cheers

Unfortunately I've only ever inspected a 2-stroke Carry trayback once, many years ago, and I don't think anyone else on this forum will have much info on them either.
However if it is anything like other small Suzuki models then upgrading to parts from a later model (ST70/80/90) shouldn't be massive issues. The parts mightn't be a direct fit, but with some mods they should.
The issue will be finding ST70/80/90 parts, because even they are pretty thin on the ground.

cheers.
I didnt even realise they made a two stroke one! It would be a project and want to upgrade everything...but i think it will be one headache after another unfortunately.
ohwell, cheers for the reply though, might pass on this one!

If your plans are pretty wild and you have the right combination of skill, time, money and lunacy then it would be a really unique basis for a project. I could imagine one with a turbo F6A under the cabin would be a total hoot!
On the other hand if you just want to fix something up so it is neat and reliable without custom making everything then I'd suggest a later model ST80/90 would be a far easier option.
Besides, with the ST90 you get a 1L 4 stroke and a 5 speed.
