Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on my SK410 F10A has died and I am now hunting a replacement. Does anyone know the suitable flow and pressure ratings for the pump? There are no markings/model no. on mine beside the "Facet" label and the workshop manual I have only states >500cc/min as the requirement. Any info appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick

External electric? General specs are HLVP - 5-6PSI. Most of your standard ebay carby electric pumps will do the job.

I reckon any after market or electric fuel pump from a carby engine will suffice. I'd be looking in a wrecking yard.

Thanks Brayden. Pressure was the main one I wanted to check to avoid over pressuring something. Most pumps will cover the >500cc/min flow rate as is quite low.

Does anyone know if the fuel system can handle 2.2 L/min? I know there is a return for excess fuel, but can the return handle that much, or is it going to cause issues? The dead pump currently on my Carry is a "Blue" Facet pump, so is either 2-4psi + 1.5L/min or 4.5-7psi + 2L/min... i'm leaning towards the smaller as it did occasionally starve for fuel...

My Super Carry with the F10A started giving me problems and one was the petrol continually leaked from the accelerator pump on the carby. It was a mystery because it had been rebuilt and had never had this issue before. My mechanic discovered that the fuel return pipe where the fuel exists the carby had a very thin jet nozzle in it and the fuel couldn't escape fast enough so he replaced it with a larger one from another carby. I do not know if it is standard but when replaced with a larger type it now runs perfectly again. If you can check it out because if it has the pin thin tube (it looks thick on the outside so you have to look inside it) it will not handle high pressure. But there is nothing stopping you from going to a wreckers, searching through carbys and replacing it if you have a higher pressure fuel pump.

Does the Carry have a smaller return line than the feed line, or are they both 1/4"? If it has a smaller return then you will have problems. MB's have a small return and a pissy little check valve that means that any additional fuel pressure or flow causes leaks. I had this issue when I converted to carby turbo and tried to push anything more than 6PSI of fuel through it @ 2.5L/min.

Worst-case scenario is that you fit a 3/8" feed line and use the old feed line for a return. Its a bit of fiddling around with connections at the tank end, but not difficult.

Found the model no. and it is the 2-4psi + 1.5L/min pump. Is this actually suitable for a stock F10A? Would I get away with the lower pressure in order to keep the flow rate down? I'm thinking the fuel starving I experienced was just due to the pump starting to fail.

Brayden, I'm pretty certain the return line is smaller, but if i do go for the larger pump I may check the nozzle as Karu suggested if I get any leakage.

Edit: Just found an application list for Facet fuel pumps. The model I have is used on even bigger engines (eg. Toyota 22R) so its safe to say it should do the job for my F10A.
