my boy now has a warning on it. next time its pulled over it will be defected.

i dont get why.

its safe. it passed roadworthy. it has no fines.

P platers are unfairly targeted. and vic p plate restrictions arent ryt.

They have gone to far when they want a poor little mb off the road.

I reckon that as long as the muffler clearance height is legal they can do nothing about it.

I saw a sneaky way around that in Street Machine many years back. The feature was on a mark two Cortina that had been converted to V8. The rear quater of the muffler from the four cylinder had been cut so that it had a 'letterbox' cut out in the bottom & was then welded to the back of the larger V8 system. The visible outlet is thus original size yet the hidden one is larger.
This wont work for you if your MB. is loud - experience has shown me that the MB. will be picked on over noisier Commodores & Falcons.
I had to have a resonator put on mine before they left me alone.

i didnt get pulled over once with a 5.5 inch cannon that was on with cable ties for the 3mths it was on.

then 2weeks with the 2.5 inch one which was mounted perfectly and was quieter, i get pulled over.

the cops really need to focus on whats necessary. there are so many little wankers out there in their commodores, falcon, and skylines powersliding (not drifting ) around every corner and doing burnouts everywhere. why do they pick on a car that is roadworthy and safe that cant even do freeway speeds revving its guts out... i work on one of the busiest roads on the central coast, and i see and least 5 or 6 idiots a day being stupid, and endangering innocent people and their property. the cops just love a little revenue raising dont they... grrr

MB's are a novelty for them - Cops are people too & some/most will appreciate a nice car. They see so many common-dores & Falcons that any thing different will get their attention. Play their game - ask them for advice on what will be ok & they should get to know you enough to go easy on you.
I have an uncle who is an A grade mechanic but now works as a cop, he is also a hot rodder/ street machine enthusiast.
Basically I am saying you can have the cops working with us if you take the right action. The more questions you ask (with respect) the more respect can be earned & you can still have fun.

one cop loved it. he was asking me questions bout it with a big smile. the other was treating it like i had just dragged someone up the main street in a flame throwing v8.

Its a 3cyl man!!! lol. i didnt do anything stupid, why should i be threatened with having my pride and joy put of the road?

WTF was he smoking? Crack?

I too have a larger than stock tip on my mighty boy. Not sure how big it is, i think maybe 2" or 2 & 1/4". My dad welded it to the muffler.

Unless it's sticking out too far & could hurt someones ( leg, or ankle in a mighty boy lol ) i don't see why there is issue with it, as long as it's quieter than the required noise limits.

I'm going to have a dig thru the vic roads website, i'm sure there is something regarding modified exhausts on there that you should read.

Cheers

Please read section 12, on page 5 of the following document.

VSI 8 - Modified Vehicle Guidelines

Then see if your exhaust is with in the regulations of of the first point, in protrusion - Mine doesn't come out past the bumper bar, so it's ok. Does yours?

Please post up a pic of it dude.

Cheers

its got notheing to do with the safety or the noise is the thing. lol

it is a "modified exhast system, isnt factory" therefore a p plater isnt allowed to drive it apparently.

must be a massive power increase!!! not. its a friggn 3cyl.

does that mean if i put chrome valve caps on my wheels i will also not be allowed to drive it.

grrrrrr. you could defect a brand new car if you felt like it.

it went from me not being allowed to drive it because of p plates , to because i havent got any hoon tickets he wont defect it.
