driveshafts are stuck

Hi am halfway through the engine swap on alto / hatch and am trying to get the driveshafts out to put into the hatch's as they are finished.. but they refuse to budge off hubs , engine is out ..do i just tap somehow ..as i dont want to break / damage . only pair i got .

Did you take the nut off the driveshaft? Its a castle nut.

thought they just slip on the splines like the engine side

Just get someone to put there foot on the brake, if the hubs are still on, put the wheels back on and put on ground to give extra support in getting it off.

ok thanks again ..if boots are torn its best to replace the shafts hey??
and does anyone know if alto 87 would fit ss40 hatch or are they different?

Boots should be easy to replace

If the shafts are not noisy ( click or louder clack clack as you corner) just clean the joint thoroughly & replace the boot & grease. A CV boot kit comes with a boot, clips & grease. If you are just servicing a joint with a good boot replace the old grease with new graphite grease.
A noisy joint will need replacing. Reconditioned shafts cost me $140.00 each but there is likely to be something cheaper.

brand new they are $110 each side.

awesome ..thanks guys ..will worry bout driveshafts in a couple of days ..try and pop the new engine in tomorrow and get that sorted first before fine tuning..thanks again
