Wanted Mighty Boy steering wheel without the optional crack.
Can swap 83 Hatch steering wheel/column complete or about 85 993 Swift column/wheel complete or early LJ 80 I think column and wheel complete.
Or go cash.

Throw the Hatch steering wheel on it. It's a better steering wheel anyway!

does anyone have a spare mb steering wheel? or know off where i can get one in syd?

The ones i have don't fit the MB one is too large on the shaft the other is too different didn't even bother trying it.

Interesting... I could have sworn that the steering wheel my MightyBoy came with was a Hatch wheel - particularly given Brayden pointed it out!

Agree with Josh. They do fit. I swapped the steering wheels in an 83 Hatch (spares) and my 88 Mightyboy because of the crack problem. Fitted perfectly and looks just like Josh's

Find a Hatch wreck! They're everywhere!

Actually I do have one that looks like the one in Josh's car but I never bothered with it cos I thought it looked ugly.
The hatch one I have discovered what the problem is.
The shaft is the same size but the bottom of the centre where the horn contact takes place is flat, whereas the MB one has a raised landing or platform on there, so the wheel does not sit properly. It's a shame it is a lot like the MB one but the centre arms are at an angle and the centre is bigger.
I might fit the Josh's type one till something better comes along. The main problem is that it is canary bait. One thing I thought of was using fibreglass rein coloured to suit to fill in the crak actually it's a gap of about 1 cm, quite large.

I think the confusion here is that mowog is talking about a Swift Hatch steering wheel, hense the reason why it doesn't fit.

All 'regular' Hatch steering assembly parts are interchangeable with the MB, I should know, the rack and column in my ute are from a Hatch.

I agree it's an ugly wheel, but I find it an improvement over the fugly, plasticy, flimsy stock wheel.

The damn thing's never been given a second look by any authority that has gone near my vehicle. They're always more interested in the 13" wheels.

A stocker will never get looked at twice.
My car would be more prone to a yellow with the legal sports wheel as apposed to the old stocker with the crack.
