In the last day, without me working on the car, the high beam light on the dashboard has decided to go haywire. It stays on the whole time (even when the car is totally off & no fuses in - tried this by pulling them out one by one & replacing them) except for when I actually ingage the high beams.
What the **** is going on?

As I recall, it indicates a critical electrical fault somewhere...

I'm trying to remember what the cause was when I last experienced it... *massages scalp*

probibly a faulty dip switch (indicator stork)

Josh, your high beam light came on when you shorted out the accessory fuse trying to do something with your aerial or some other tomfoolery as I recall.

I pulled the whole indicator assembly out this arvo & disconnected it.
The Blue high beam light remained on.
Now I have pulled the globe which lights it - temp solution...

Any other ideas?

That's right! It was the ciggy lighter shorting out as I recall!

Check all your under-dash wiring, Fritz. Trace leads to all your accessories and make sure nothing is shorting out. If all the wiring checks out, try disconnected specific devies and you may be able to pinpoint an internal fault in something...

I have tried the ciggy lighter, ignition harness, lights harness, but no success yet.

Although it is more than likely to be related to the fact that I dont have any back lighting on the dash anymore (noticed that last night)...

Hmmm?... Maybe look at fuses again?

Checked the fuses today (only pulled em without looking at them before), and it turns out the problem was a broken fuse. Can work out how this would lead to the problem I listed, but it did...
