i thought the idea was to buy australian and keep the $$ in the country!!!! i guess this doesnt apply to the oil industry

My understanding is that the Australian Government imposes a tax that matches our oil prices to the imported rates. Good cash cow for the pollies.

yes the oil is here, but we supply only a small amount of the global oil total, and having said this the companies that are producing the oil from the ground are big overseas companies anyway so it gets traded on the global market.......

i know this cos i am trying 2 land a job with one such company, the up side is that they pay mega $$$ (over 300clams per day after tax and it will most prob be an equal time roster, 3wks on - 3wks off)

long story short, the price of fuel is only going to go ^

the oil in australia .. has been rather cleverly sold to britan ... so it isnt our oil... its britans oil.. britan owns the plants in aus

What are you guys on about, at our place we have 2 toyota landcruisers (one takes 90L and the other takes about 130 - 140L) so filling a 20 - 30L tank is nothing...
Gotta admit that the government and the oil companies have a pretty sweet scheme set up, sucks for us though.

I was reading about some pretty focked up shite in the paper over breakfast on Friday morning. Alledgedly all of the Australian oil suppliers have been making an extra $13AUD/barrel on top of their normal profit margins in the last three weeks - netting them something in the order of an additional $8,400,000 in the last three weeks alone.

Mad Max here we come!

The sad thing about this is theGreedy Shiny Assed Moguls who set these prices wont be too keen to drop them when they finished panicking.
The good thing about this is even tho I have a company car now, my better half is still getting 5 L per 100 Ks in the M B.
Speaking of which, how do I post updated photo,s of MY updated MB in the image gallery please ?
