Got a new quote today.. $1200 for a rebuild if I take the engine to them and it's stripped down.. costing me less for time and labour etc and they are in Newie.

So that looks like the winning number..

So I got a quote today.. with the engine out.. rebuild is $2000 with engine in car and they do all the work, incl replacing gaskets, leads, welsh plugs etc.. $2500.

Is this cheap? Or expensive? This was the only place anyone has been able to refer me to.. Jap Engines at Cardiff..

Huh I what? :P Might be the better option to build it, as you'll get a good base to start from & not be getting someone else's mess. I think I would much rather go with the rebuild.. that way I know it's not going to DIE 1hr down the road.. :D Thanks for all your help today Adz.. much appreciat...

Well a good friend, EvilGidget came and looked over the car today, got underneath, removed oil sump and apparently it has a scored bore and cracked rings.

So now to find someone who can repair it locally..
