At this point the dash was very flimsy so in to the car it went and got bolted in:
Next I added a backing so the foam had something to rest on:
Foam immediately after application:
Can you believe it! I ran out of foam
So need to fork out another $18 for another can. If I had known I would only get that much out I would have made a alfoil closer to the final shape desired so less foam was needed. Oh well, next time I re-construct a dash I'll know

The foam is being built up and then will be shaped to how I want the dash to look. Then I'll lay down some glass fibre over that and then the foam all gets scrapped away and more glass on the underside.
Then time to make the tweeter mounts and headunit mount and cluster mount and whatever else needs to be mounted. By then it should be looking pretty special and in need of trimming.

Not really. Everything modified in the car will have engineer's approval. So I will have to construct a dash pad which will be wicked easy because I deliberatly made the passenger side slightly smaller to allow for the pad materialGladier wrote:have you thought about the regulations about dash material yet?
You only need a crash pad if the original dashboard was equipped with one. If anyone asks buy an old Hatch dashboard (which has no padding) and show them that.
Strangely enough the MB dash was the only one of the Aussie Suzuki Kei's that had a crash pad - not even the later model Alto had one.
