Last weekend we had the A&P Electronics db drag racing round. This was the first time I entered my car in an event and ended up getting 3rd place in Street A class which im happy with. I managed a personal best of 131.5dB but the stock battery didn't enjoy the punishing I gave it as the day went on.

Yeah like I said on MSN mate, big congrats. What you need to do is check the rulebook and look for ways of getting into classes that don't have other competitors (like SS1-2NW or SM1-2). Easiest trophey you'll ever win

thanks guys. I gotta say, it's soo addictive. Im thinking of ways I can get a few more dB out of the system, first is sound deadening then upgrading the battery to an Exide or Optima which can take a beating unlike the stock one.

Will be entering the next few Victorian rounds and hopefully enter CAASQ when I get a decent front stage in the system. :)

how is your car classed in street a?? the mighty boy is classed as a commercial vehicle for db drag and thus it can only be in super street?? am i missing something??

nah, its classified as a normal vehicle. It can go into Street A as long as all the sub(s) are fitted behind the B pillar.

Apart from that anyone can enter street A with one 12" subwoofer, two 10"s or four 8". If you have two 12's or one 15 that puts you into StB.

What ferdie is getting at is that a ute has no boot and especially in our case no rear seats. So having the sub in the back is effectively like having a sub on the rear seat of a 'normal' car which would place you in Super Street.

I'm not sure that's the way it should be done though as your setup is within what I would call 'street' (no modifications really) and the advantage of a smaller cabin is somewhat lost on the lack of ability to load into a hatch.

i was never allowed to run my mighty boy in any of the street classes, thats why i started building the extreme car.....

i even spoke with angelo from DB-drag aust (the boss for aust) and he comfirmed i was not allowed in street no matter what gear i used..... like wise a delevery van is not allowed to be in the street classes. the car must be a sedan or hatch back for street classes. (although the 2seat suzuki hatch cant be used either cos it is classed as a delevery type vehicle), which is stupid because you can use the 2seater honda crx, and i reccon that would carry more stuff....

dude congrats on the addiction, you will need to look further into this because it will be very sad if you turn up for an official comp like autosalon and they bump you into super street.....

note: its worth mentioning that all my info was current mid last year, and im not sure of the case now.

Cargo vans and commercial vehicles are prohibited from competing in the Street Division.

just found this in the 2006 rules.....

its worth reading these rules over and over again to best set up your system for comps, i know i did.....
