Can you use synthetic oil on a carburator type F5 or F6 engine?

You can use synthetic oil in any motor, just depends on if you can justify the cost.

Just resurecting this old post.

Got to be careful with oils for later model engines! Due to the catalytic converter, oil for late models don't have ZDDP added as this contaminated the catalyst. Usually the problem that surfaces is lifter wear - whether the Mighty Boy suffers from this, I don't know. I'd suggest you choose your oil to suit the engine.

Another side effect of synthetic oil is that it is hydroscopic - it sucks up moisture from the air, so if you don't run your engine much to boil off the moisture, your engine internals rust.
