Geeze mate, I would perhaps consider selling my brand new 30dic. Still a tiny bit unsure if I want to part with it though. - I guess price would ultimately be the determining factor. If I did, I'd be buying another new (but bigger) weber for my yellow mighty - probably a weber 28/34 or something like that.

You should also note that fitting these 30dic carbs isn't as easy as some webers. (I've not fitted mine yet - still working it out)
Jono on these forums has done it, but I guess it'd be a matter of how fussy you are about the quality of the install.

I'll ponder on it for a little while... :| :| :|

yes, i have done it and it wasn't easy and it wass messy. took a day and a half with my mechanic and we had to setup linkages on passenger side using a variety of old bits and pieces... was a bit messy but was well worth it, performance wise... as for reliability.. well... you kow what carburettors are like! that's why i threw on an EFI setup :)

i'm gonna keep mine to maybe put on my next MB when i get one (who knows when that will be)..

Quite agreed. I wouldn't ever other with an older carb. I've had way too many hassles even when carbs have been reconditioned professionally. So yes, either new carbs, or efi.

How hard was it to get your efi setup running Jono?

well i got it all set up and ready to go from jimbo on these forums.. bolting the manifold on was a bitch (as brayden would agree!) jimbo labelled all the wires for me so that was good. dropping the fuel tank to sort out new lines was bit of a pain and remeber don't use resistor type spark plugs!!!! that's what cause all my probs!!

i have no idea what the manifold came from, it looks a bit different to brayden's so i'm ont sure :NFI: it came with custom radiator piping to sort out thermostat issues as well as a custom inlet pipe.

all the sensors came connected, like TPS, air temp..... so now it just needs a dyno tune to get it going even better!

hope your weber conversion goes well,

jono

I'd be very interested in seeing some pics. :)

... and yes, getting to those bottom manifold nuts/bolts is a task for people with lots of patience and very small hands - I have neither.

Yep, most likely from a Japanese Jimny.

Okay, then maybe you can help me.. There is a little vaccum line I think that is on the right hand side below fuel rail, close to the rocker cover. It's pretty small, I just blocked mine up, do you have that too.

The only line I didn't block on the top part of the manifold is my MAP sensor (I thinks that's what it is!) that goes from there to my computer...

Also, could you (or others) suggest why I have trouble starting up when cold ( i have adjusted my cold start settings) but won't idle when it's cold. I currently have 48% choke for 20 and 40 degrees and 68% cold crank.

Any ideas? Or should I just experiment with those settings?

Thanks,

Jono

I noticed your manifold seems to be missing the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. That might explain it. ;)

As for what I have and haven't blocked, well I pretty much discarded everything. The MicroTech has a built-in MAP sensor, which I hooked up to the only exposed vacuum port on the rear RHS of the plenum.

I'll take pics of the manifold from all angles while it is still off the motor.

IAC valve. Hmm, maybe that's it.

Althigh it's start up and idle did improve when I adjusted the choke settings.. Anyway, if it is that, what does that mean, can I get one?
