hey
i was wondering what would be needed to install an amr300 supercharger on a complete stock f8b engine. and how much it would roughly cost.
thanx in advance.

You'll need as a minimum:
- Custom piping and brackets
- Upgraded fuel pump
- Recurved distributor
- Fuel pressure regulator
- Pressure box for the carby, or a Charade turbo carby.
If you get the charger for $200 I'd say you wouldn't get much change out of $1000 for a completed basic setup such as the above. It'd only go upwards from there as you increase performance.

Pump pressure will depend on if you're using a draw-through or blow-through setup, the amount of boost you're going to run, what sort of carby setup you'll use and the type of FPR fitted.
Bear in mind that going as high as EFI pressure ratings will require new fuel lines too.
Recurving the distributor involves modifying it to cancel out mechanical advance and adding retard on boost.

o ok thanks for that.
im new to forced induction. could you explain draw-through and blow-through setups abit please.
btw ill only be runnin around 6-7 psi.
and im gonna try to track down a charade carby.

Draw-through is putting the carby before the charger/turbo
Blow-through is putting the carby after the charger/turbo.
Charade turbo carby is a blow-through design.

OK, I've been thinking about doing a supercharger install for a bit now.
Perhaps Brayden can answer my questions...
With the fuel system, I'm guessing I will need a FPR as well as a lift pump? I currently have my VL pump sucking fuel from the tank. Aslo, will a surge tank be a must? I saw one on ebay which was from a VL but think it might be too big.
I'm not looking for radical performance, only a few psi of boost to get me moving a bit faster

Second that
Yeah, I've been chopping and changing my mind... whether just to N/A tune it and throw it on the dyno now, or wait a bit and dyno it when I have the s/c on (if I ever get it on!).
Have fun with your MB and the 308!

Yes it would but at a couple of hundred bucks a tune ($140 an hour on the dyno), I might just have to wait!gremlin wrote:i say do a bit of a tune to get it running right, dyno it, then whack on the supercharger, retune, dyno and compare the two figures.
Would make for a good comparison.
