i have an 800cc motor, extractors/headers,
Question) i wanted to get an exhaust system what are your recomendations,
1)how big can i go,
2)i know i cant get much performance out of it, jus wanted good loud sound,
3)is it better to run a high flow cat or no cat, can i have a straight pipe with a tip???
Mighty boy exhaust system
1) 1¾"
2) True
3) You don't need a cat converter for an F8B, and not having one is better anyway! You will need a muffler on there somewhere, otherwise it will be way too loud.

F8B EFI turbo - Three pots and a snail.
Mine has 1 3/4" from factory manifold, no resonator & a 2" Walker Turbo (TM)
sports muffler - sounds a bit like a GM (Detroit) 2 stroke diesel most of the time (think Kenworth or similar). sounds best at cruise between 60 - 80Km/h
& worst at full noise climbing hills.
I get some complaints but with the size of a MB. negotiating car parks of Patrols/Landcruisers and the like I want to be noticed before they run me over
You will find she goes a bit better with just the 1 3/4" exhaust but I find mine isn't getting enough air via the factory air cleaner now ( tried driving sans air filter & gained better pickup & top end) a pod is now on the shopping list.

So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..
Once again im guessing you are after sound buddie......as stated above 1 and 3/4 inch would be a perfect for a N/A MB.....it will give a definite sound increase especially just with a straight pipe and no dog and just the tip. Use a canon tip.
2 inch would be louder, but im guessing you would loose power (not enough restriction) If you use headers and do the exhasut system you will definately feel an increase in power from a stock MB

I wasn't after the noise I got. I saw Brayden's recommendation for 1 3/4" exhaust on the F8B naturally aspirated or turbo in an older thread.
I requested that the exhaust shop build a 1 3/4" system that was not too loud
(not what I got
). I found out recently that the previous owner of the local exhaust shop was back in town for that day & had built my system - I am O.K. with that as I know he is one of the best exhaust techs about & the noise just ads to the joke. The payoff is that it goes harder than it did with the standard size.
