just recently bought a 88 carry f10 and im having a few problems with it and i was wondering if the carry gurus can help me out...

i seem to be losing my top speed. when i first bought it it easily could do 110+ but lately it seems to be lagging and it is very fuelly when i stop it running. when i put my foot down nothing really happens like what it used to. i know they can easily do 110 so i was wondering what might be the problem or what i can do to give it a bit more power.

Problem would either be carby or ignition related I reckon. Might be time for a good service/tune and carby overhaul. ;)

consider yourself lucky with my 800cc and 4speed i only reach 70km/h. wow 110 i needs to fins myself a 5speed box!!

but yes as brayden said i think it would be closely related to ignition...
maybe carby but you know about that if it was....
or even something really simple like your not using/putting in lead supplements in yuor fuel so the valve springs are slowing sagging/dieing reducing maximum engine efficiency and top speed..
any old school mechanic (i mean non efi trained) will be able to diagnose it in a few minutes/hours just have to fork out cash $$$$$$$$$$$$.

thanks heaps for that. it had me stumped especially after the carby was rebuilt two weeks ago. im going to take it up to suzi sport in briso too see what they think.

i just remembered another factor. its guzzling fuel like theres no tomorrow. took a half a tank in a hour round trip. seems like way way too much. do u think this means something else?

yeah the five speed is nice but seems to lag as soon as it hits a hill. hahaha. it is something that i expected but its just a bit sad when my mates mightyboy goes flying past me.

If it is guzzling fuel and has no top end I reckon it has a problem with the carby for sure. Sounds like something was left out of the rebuild or put together wrong.

If you have no luck with SuziSport try Suzuki Auto Care, ask for Dave - he owns a Carry and should be able to diagnose the problem.
