Stage 1, Stage 2... its all rubbish. The correct way of identifying a modified cam is by lift and duration figures - the only way to know those for sure is to remove the cam and measure it.

An offset grind shouldn't be too expensive if you know what figures you want the grind to have. I would suggest that for an aggressive profile cam that you might want to have an adjustable cam gear built as well.

This should help....http://www.tighecams.com.au/ Ivan Tighe is a very well known performance engineer based in Bris.
I asked for a price on a regrind about 9 months back - $90.00 sorry don't remember the details.
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..

mate it is up to you, but im guessing your after the sound....and a stage one cam wont do it for ya. It wont give you much performance, maybe try an adjustable cam gear if you are after performance.

If you want sound......drop in a 10A or if you liek cam sound (rough idle) drop in a GTi motor with cams (x2 stage 3 cams sounds wicked awsome)

holla

yea Ivan Tighe is very good at cams , use to use him in the 70's to regrind Honda motor cycle cams . the lobes were buit up (welded) then reground . like Braden says to increase duration ( opening time ) and lift. WARNING be carefull of valve to piston clearence , we use to assemble engines with plastasine on top of the pistons then wind it over slowly by hand , then remove the head and inspect the mark left by the valves (clearence). i dont now how you woud go with the MONO TORQE head gaskets (able to reuse ?) . maybe put some grafite powder or talcum powder on it to stop it from sticking ( dont reuse it ) . if you want revs you will need stonger valve springs (to stop valve bounce) . thats the one of the things that will limit your RPMs . i have read that they get 10,000 rpm out of the formular maruti engines in india . any way TIGHES will be able help you .
