New engine....what mods???

Hey guys,

since my engine is on 2 cylinders and need to get it rebuilt, i figured i might as well ask if there is any performance mods to chuck in...cams? higher compression??? im not known for my high mechanical iq so any help greatly appreciated...

I was thinking along the line of an exhaust wit extractors, which iv been reading up on, should be 1.75in max. what's the ball park cost i should be looking for?? also i hear ppl saying to chuck a webber carby or even triple carbies on it off a motorbike...how hard is it to do both... Im not looking for 12 second runs but i jst wanna hav a reliable 800 wit abit more kick...but running on 3 cylinders instead of 2 will make it feel like a v8 supercar....

So any advice and help is greatly appreciated....

Performance mods (without the obvious addition of a turbo)

- Offset ground camshaft
- Deck the head or fit flat/domed pistons for higher compression
- Ported head (larger valves if possible)
- Weber DCOE (Fiat 850) carby
- Triple bike carbies (requires custom manifold)
- Extractors (custom made ~$400)
- Bosch GT coil & upgraded plug leads
- Regraphed distributor
- A full service and tune

is there any oversize piston/rod's available for an f8b?

Oversize pistons should just be a matter of consulting a piston manufacturer to get whatever size/specs you need. 40 thou oversize should be easy to come by.

There should be, naturally when you do a rebuild you sometimes need to bore out the block to the next size piston, so coming by replacement pistons in larger sizes should be no problems!

i'm getting a new (well old) f8b whats your best advice to do it, i would love to go the turbo efi way eventually

i'm planning
extractors
1 3/4" exhaust (anything special as far as mufflers etc)
upgrade coil and leads (how much difference)
i might give the webber a go
and of course the full service and tune

alternatively how hard is it to source the parts for the turbo efi

and what else should be done to it?

F8B parts are stil pretty easy to get,
I just bolted my brothers F8B together today with 0.5mm oversize pistons and rings and i've actually got a 1.0mm overbore set sitting around here at home in case of emergency.
Timing belts, water pumps, clutches, gasket kits are off the shelf...
you've just gotta find yourself a good distributer that can be bothered getting the stuff for you.
