Its been a long time coming but I brought a 81 Carry Van the other day :D Still yet to get it home as it currently resides just outside Port Macquarie.
A lazy twelve and a half hour drive away but I am going to organize a car carrier to bring it down for me to start to work on.
Its body looks to be fair rusted out but mainly on the doors and passenger side A pillar so first thing to do will be to go right over it from front to back with a fine toothed comb and get a bit of an idea of how much I really do have to cut out/ how much welding and sanding its really going to take to get it paint worthy.
The engine is apparently really good 190 000 original ks so I'm just going to check all the gaskets, leads wiring change the filters, fuel pump and timing belt
Pull that bull bar off it and go for a deep maroon with a gold fleck.
Nice dark tint windows and get the badges gold plated and a nice little set of rims for it to finish it off.
I'm not in a massive hurry to rush this project either the last GTi I built from a shell, got a RWC on it went home and parted it out anyways because I just was not completely satisfied with the effort I put into it.
I didn't even think it was worth dragging my build thread back up to show the boys from Redline! So I really want this little van to represent me and the knowledge I have obtained while being a member of these two awesome sites.
I will bang a few pictures of it up next week when it comes home.
Wicked!

Frankgos, backloading with a furniture removalist is worth a look - cheaper than a car transport company as long as you get one you can trust.
My Father recently had 2 1948 Vauxhall Wyvern Caleche's transported from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The removalist is a mate of his so he got to ride shotgun down & back. Cost $800.00 when the other most economical option was $2000.00 delivered to Brisbane (120Km away).
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..
