I have a friend at repco who does some favours for me, not sure if the price is available in quantity though. he just can't get a listing for the top mount though.

I solved the ignition Nut issue too.

Bought a 3/4 'Rural Fire Service' fitting from bunnings, thread isn't the same but its Black. I cut it with the dremel and forced it onto ignition barrel with a few turns from the old multigrips. Works Wonders!!

Cost
Hose fitting: $2.99
Dremel: $179.00
Fixed MB: Priceless

PS if anyone else wants me to cutt the other end off for their own use I'd be happy to do it at no charge. But the postage is going to be around $100.00.[/u]

Brayden wrote: With your steering column, there is a rubber bush in the top. You need to remove the entire combination switch to get to it, and a pair of circlip pliers to get it out. I replaced mine recently, took all of the slackness away. Cost me about $5 from SuziWorld. I might still have the bag with the part number on it.
Found the bag, part number is 48381-51041

For the engine mounts has some one found a place that sells them for a resnoable price?. Also Brayden you where saying you can hollow them out and use polyurethane? Has this worked well?
Cheers :)

So, they likely just have the pictures the wrong way around?

Either way, that top mount looks a bit nicer than the one fitted atm...

Reading Gadj's guide, what are the adverse effects of using the Alto/Hatch rear mount that he mentions? I tried search..

i had the problem with steering movement
The rubber bush seems to slide down the steering shaft overtime

just pull it all out, reposition the bush near the top and its all good.

to stop it sliding down again, I used a "punch" and hammer to put 3 small dints in the steering sleeve, just bellow the bush. this will hopefully stop it sliding down again.

As for engine mounts, im having problems at the moment, with engine hitting the bonnet since I put new ones in. great fun :)

Not long after I got my MB I noticed the steering wheel movement and made a bush on the lathe out of aluminium fitted to the top right beneath the wheel boss.
Recently I have found a HEAP :-o of movement from the lower end(near pedals) inside the shaft.
1. how could this happen? Has a bush collapsed?
2. Whats the best method to remove/replace this bush?
Many thanks

BTW happy to make other bushes for people who need them.

If you move the universal joint around at the bottom of the steering coloum you will soon know.
I just cant believe how much play I have, Its as if the whole bush has gone :/ I will have to pull the coloum out and put in a new bush

I had the same issue - the bush at the bottom of the steering shaft had ended up about half way inside it so I had LOTS of play. Put it back and it was much tighter. Needs new bushes still which are on things to do list.
