ok so the alarm, central locking, and all the triggers are in and working, will mount the siren unit properly 2 morro and its all done,

am now looking at the huge task of building a full custom dash over the next couple weekends. i want to put the cluster in the middle of the dash (like how it is in the echo's) and have the headunit below and the tv above (like in a supra) with amps under glass/etched plastic in the top of the dash.....

can anyone see how that would look?? and ideas for the build b4 i start work next weekend??

brayden: will email u the photos and some text with what i did during the install with in the next week or so.......

yeah, i guess i could.....

(1) will basically build a simple, light tube steel frame-work (1/2 inch thick steel section)with all the mounting points along the top of the freiwall and down the a-pillars,

(2) then make thick (25mm) mdf pannels where i want the amps, cd player and other things i want to keep stable with in the tube framework

(3) once all that is built and in place will make a free flowing fiberglass cover that goes over the top and makes it all look good.....

that the plan anyway, will c how it goes.

to get an idea at the type of thing im trying 2 build check oit the alpine demo car on the alpine website, not quite as extreme as this build but a similar idea for making the whole thing custom...

Mate just something to think about if this car is to be registered the dash may have to be covered in a soft covering to absorb inpacts in an accident to comply with the adr laws in the 80s when the mightyboy came out. This was the case with a corvette i bought back from the states and converted left to right hand drive.

The dash in a stock mightyboy is a little soft or energy absorbent in a collision.I think if you do it in straight fiberglass they might have a problem with it splintering in a head impact, this is what i was told doing my dash but that was nearly 10 years ago.
What i ended up doing was a fiberglass one then had it skinned in grey leather which turned out better than original and went on to win best interior at the 99 QLD corvette concourse.
Let us know how you get on at main roads as when i went through it i was told a lot of different stories on what can and cant be done.
