Hi :D

I have blown my turbo on my mighty boy. Its currently got a custom manifold that is kind of crazy all over the place and is running a IHI RB32. sorry if I got the code name wrong. But it’s the turbo of a Daihatsu charade cb61 turbo.

Now if you don’t know these turbo’s the are very hard to find and to fix them costs big $$$$$$ so I have been looking at another turbo. 8)

I can pick up a IHI B6 I think its called (correct me if im wrong) of the charade CB70 twin cam fairly cheap. But I would have to then make a dump pipe and change the exhaust flange to make it fit. But I don’t know what it will be like with this turbo? Will it be to big for a F6A twincam???? I don’t wont to do it and then realize it was all a waste of time and money.

Has anyone tried this set up??? Is there much lag??? I know when the power hits it would be hard but I don’t wont something that is a pain to drive. And lags till 6k lollll.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Chris.

not sure about the B designation, but in an ihi you want RHB31, RHB32 and RHF4, the first two you can get from alto works' and daihatsu charade turbo's. RHF4 is actually the smaller of the two sequentials found in the liberty RS/B4. The designation B6 makes me think it's quite a big one as RHB5 (found on tx3 laser etc.) is much too large for the 550/660cc engines.
altoworks.info now being domain squatted... joy.

The best turbo you could look for would be a Garrett GT12, failing that I would contact GCG Turbos in Sydney about rebuilding your IHI RHB32, because the sad fact is that it is pretty much the only turbo besides the RHF4 that is around that size.

I don’t have $800  :(

I was looking for a cheaper option. :?

i just talked to the guy with the turbo and its not the b6 sorry its called the IHI RHB5. but you still think its too big for 660cc?

i would love a GT12 but they are ball Bering and are very expensive. is there any cars out there than run them stock? maybe i can find some one that has done an upgrade and is selling the turbo off cheap?

Thanks

Chris.

RHB5 Turbo's were used on the 1.8L BP Mazda Familia turbo's, so yeah I would wager that it is way too big for your application.

Have you tried the DaiHard forums? Seeing as the RHB32 was used on the Charades you may have more luck sourcing one through there.
