Am getting there, with some good stuff in the pipeline, but a couple of things are getting to me...

Speakers in the door... After reading old posts, I figure I'll skip that one and put 'em all behind the seat. Thanks to all for previously covering that one!

Ditto with Suspension... have printed out the 'how to' and will attempt to convince local suspension guy that lowering the rear of an MB actually IS possible!

Seat belt... Read previous posts, but apart from happening upon someone with some spare, we're all pretty-much stuffed. Would that be right? So, has anyone got any (particularly driver's side - or are they the same?) or know where I may be able to find one?

Quick Shifter... I'd really like to have a short-throw shift, preferably with the gear knob moved back about 6 inches (just short of the handbrake), as it's a fair way away where I sit. Has anybody tackled this one or got any ideas?

Have new seats on the way, and new trim happenning when they arrive.

Body straightening and respray within 6 months.

Will enter details and get pics so I can start a gallerty shortly...

Any help on the above little issues is appreciated!

should put the speakers in the kicks like where i had my first set, its easy as there is a mounting bolt hole just above the location and the sound image will be heaps better than putting them in the back...

Kick panels - the space between the door and the wheel arch/firewall.

Sean - you should see if Colin has a seatbelt. He has a "few" spare utes lately. ;)

12 months ago i had trouble getting a roadworthy 'coz of belts. i ended up getting one for a alto (the stem is the same length) and also got a piece of steel, drilled 2 holes and used this as an adaptor so i could turn the inertia reel inwards into the cavity. not sure about legality of this, it was not engineered, but was enough to get roadworthy. might be worth looking into as this was a dodgy bros. job.

If you build a new set of door cards that go to the bottom of the door, you should able to get them in. Im trying to get my 8 inch in the front doors of mine.......

I found that it was easy to take the rear springs out and have them reset at what ever hight you want.....

I'll see if I can PM Colin about the seatbelt - Thanks, Brayden.

The MB goes in tomorrow for tinting and retrimming of doors, so I reckon I'll stick to just putting the speakers behind for now. Would have been nice to use the pods and have it all trimmed together at the same time, but no matter how I tried, the 6" ones at Autobarn just kept fouling the winder!

Check the pods I have used mate, they don't foul the winder although getting in and out of the ute requires the skill of a contorsionist! :D

Sorry the quality of the pic isn't very good - I can email some better ones on where I placed them if it would help.

Brayden, are those DNA pods? They look very similar to the ones I was trying at Autobarn.

Did you fit them flush with the bottom of the existing door trim (above the steel)? Couldn't quite make that out.

I'm not sure of the brand but they're a generic vinyl covered fibreglass set. I mounted them with about 2cm of overhang past the bottom of the existing door trim.

I think we need a "how to build your own door pods"

Or i might build some for a mighty boy and take a mold of them.
something that looks better than the dna pods....
