A mate of mine has been trying to chase a set of KYB Excel G front struts for his MB for the past month. Apparently KYB have none in stock, and so the Australian division called Japan, and they are no longer making a strut unit to fit the MB. There were aparently one remaining set in Brisbane that were tracked down, but the box turned out to be harbouring a set of Honda Prelude struts!
So, does anyone know of another manufacturer that have an MB front strut available, or will we all be forced to use an SA Swift front unit in future?
Re-sleave (if that is the right word) with koni adjustables.
That way you dont have to stuff around with getting the strut machined for the lower springs either. Approx $500 for the pair. - Probably double that of machined standard units.
No, they machine the guts out of an existing one & then drop in a new Koni. Once it has been placed at the desired heightthey weld the top & bottom in place. - Apparently koni's are one of the few shocks which you can do this with as you can pull their inners out whilst welding to prevent being damaged.
Onother advantage of the konis is that you can adjust the lenght of the piston (for want of a better word) by placing washers on the inside of em. I doubt though if you could achieve 30 or 40mm...
