These oil leaks are driving me NUTS. I've replaced ALL gaskets. From top to bottom. rocker cover; head gasket;oil pan gasket;transmission gasket. You think that engine is "out of shape" as in gaskets not mateing probaly[warped]?...............

Got sort of bad news for you , the oil leaks probably come from distorted oil pans/rocker covers etc. when people do the bolts up on these they often overtighten them, causing the section around the bolt hole to distort. you will probably have to remove the oil pan hammer the sections around the holes flat and reassemble. also did you replace the oil seal behind the front crank pulley?

the cam and crank seal behind the timeing cover can cause a pain in the neck leak allways looks like it's comming from the front of the sump, if they are fine mabe you need to do what i ended up doing i removed the rocker cover threw the gasket in the bin cleaned up the 2 mateing surfaces with brake cleaner and put a thick bead of loctite greay gasket maker on the cover itself let that set then ran a thin bead of greay on the head itself and sat the cover on and let it set while still wet then tightened it up enough to hold the cover on it has never leaked sense did the same with the sump but used the gasket for that one.

You probably need to say where exactly its leaking from. Is probably take the guess its from the rocker cover though because I've had a couple leak. There just a horrid shape. Either completely take the cork/rubber gasket out and run a gasket glue rereally thick or glue the gasket there on both sides. Nothing else should leak unless its been incorrectly fitted. Sump can be out of wack if it hasn't been evenly tightened but because there so small there stiff so unlikely.

all te rocker cover gaskets these days do not have the location tabs for the cover so i ends up falling inside the top of the head once tention is applied i tried and failed several times, also just for the sake of it check the dizzy O'ring seal i could be playing a part in this leak too.

I cured my rocker cover leak by buying a molded (polyurethane I think) gasket & using silicone to glue it to the cover - just don't over do the silicone & let it cure before tightening the bolts. I taped mine in place & sat it gasket down on a sheet of newspaper. Cork gaskets don't like being over tightened & the heat from the engine hardens them fairly quickly so I prefer not using them.
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..

I gave up on cork gaskets some time ago. Instant gasket has proven to be much better. Yes you have to reapply it every time you remove the part in question, but I can't remember the last time I had to remove my rocker cover or sump, which are both sealed with instant gasket.
