Hi Wayne,

I've got the motor out of my '87 RSX (factory fitted DOHC F5A) at the moment, so I can take a few pics of the mounts for you if you like. I've also stripped the interior out of the car (leaving the shifter/cables intact) so I can take a few shots of that as well.
If you pm me your email address, I'll send you some images as soon as I can take them.

F5B and F5A engine mounts are extremely different, i'd guess that the g'box mounts arent that much better.

hi oti, yeah found that out tonight, spoke to a mechanic that had fitted a f5a dohc turbo into boy in hornsby and he said most of the mounts had to either be modified or made from scatch, looks like i will have to make them up :( oh well back to the drawing board.

I guess thats why most people go for front cuts rather than engine-only packages. Good luck though, always good to have more turbo MB's out there :)

hi oti, the engine and box are'nt actually going into a MB, its being transplanted into a 1974 model morris mini :D thats why i needed the spares so i can cut up parts and make them fit, it would just make life a little easier if i had the parts that bolt up to the block and also i need the drivers side drive shaft.

cheers

are the engine mounts from the f5a and f5b interchangable?

F5A (mightyboy/hatch) and F5A Alto works (square headlights) i'm not sure about, but local F5A (non turbo) and F5B engine mounts are totally different. F5B are the same as F6A as far as engine mounts go.

I was asking if the mounts from a f5a would bolt onto a f5b?

hi guys, from what i was told yesterday the mounts are different, only one or two of the factory MB engine mount holes line up with F5a engine.

Alto mounts are completely different from MB/Hatch mounts. Irrespective of engine model, that is the easiest way of explaining it.

So no matter what engine is coming out of an Alto (F8B/F5B/F5A) there will need to be either a cradle swap or fabrication of engine mounts to put an Alto motor into an MB/Hatch body.
