Has anyone installed a short shifter on their boy? I have installed a kit on my Beetle years ago and from memory it was just a milled out lump of steel that sat the gear stick pivot point higher than stock. I was going to pull it apart on the weekend to have a look at it and see if I cant make something like it at work to stick on the Boy. Maybe cut the stick down as well so I only have to use my fingers to change gears!! Is a hatch gearstick the same size (length) as a mightyboy, because I can get a hatch stick to cut down while still using the car.

Hatch stick is the same. ;)

The easy way to make a short shifter is to shorten the top of the stick, and extend the stick AFTER the fulcrum which will reduce the throw distance.
Problem is that the MB box is so horribly sloppy that it makes gear selection tricky. The other downside is that the reduced shift throw gives an increased shift speed, which wears synchros/engagement teeth.
