anyone got any ideas how you're supposed to remove it from the rear diff???
looks like you may have to take apart the rear bush/uni joint thingy :S

gave up in the end - i'll take the whole diff out and try again when the rust is fixed...
did manage to find a lever that seems to dissengage the rear diff though.

Isn't there just 6 allen key bolts? I know thats what holds the tailshaft along with two little dowels onto the front coupling on the gearbox. They were hell tight on mine though!! I needed a good quality long series allen key and still had to crack it with a hammer.

had to run some rope around the tailshaft to stop it spinning, and then add a longer handle onto the allen key

Actually, Dan, could I get you to have a look at the front coupling to the gearbox for me??
The bit of the tailshaft that goes into the gearbox - as I originally unbolted that, and now i'm not sure which orientation it should go back in
There's three letters casted into it just near the 4 bolt holes - can you tell me which direction each faces in relation to the front of the gearbox..
As on close inspection there is a oil feed hole in the coupling, and i'm not sure which direction it should face to get the proper amount of oil

umm it will only fit in one of two ways. The four bolt holes are not equally positioned around the circumference. Of the two ways it can be I recall that there is a little cast ridge in the middle of one of the sides and that is the side that faces up.
