The Barina ('86-'93) are pretty much identical to their Swift counterparts, only that the Swift had a 1L option, whereas the Barina was only available as a 1.3L (so was the Swift).
The 1L Swift was available in two body styles - the smaller SA series from '84 to '88, and then the larger SF series from '89 to '94. Personally I'd go for the later models, unless you can find an earlier one that has been well looked after.
The only EFI models were the GTi and 1.6L sedan. 1.3 SOHC and 1L were both carby, however they have electronic ignition.
Best places to start looking would be ebay, RedlineGTi.com, and carsales... oh, and the trading post of course.
when dad and i were out car hunting for a car for mum, we found that small autos are hard to come by in car yards. as they are such a sought after thing, they tend to be worth more than the manual of the same car. well thats how the car yards work it.
we head to the auctions, ended up scoring 2 cars in one day, considerable cheaper than retail. seems the way to go i think.
