Did anyone else pick up on the power specs of those mono blocks? They will absolutly kill those subs in no time at all. Talk about leaving headroom! You can use one of those amps to power both subs quiet effectively and still have a lot of power in reserve. Unless you are building your car purely for SPL you wont need half of the equiptment you have to make a big impression on your mates.
As I said earlier, and Brayden and toy550 reiterated: Get rid of some of the 6x9's and find yourself some nice components (splits) to throw in the front to help with setting the sound stage. If you really want to stay brand loyal to Pioneer, they make a great kevlar cone component package. The model number is: TS-C160R. Those speakers will blow your socks off. If you sell four sets of your 6x9's you should be able to cover the cost of a set with some change in your pocket and still have the 6x9's that you value so highly.
Also, sticking with one brand isn't always the best option. It's up to what you like the sound of. I would only stick with one brand throughout my whole car if I was sponsored by them. I love the sound of JL speakers/woofers, but I wouldn't buy an amp off them, I like Soundstream speakers and amps, but what I have seen of their head units I am not impressed etc. You should do a lot of listening and research into what you want before you buy. That way you know you will be happy once it is all in there.
These are just my opinions, and if you want to do your thing, do it man. Your car, I just hate seeing people that are misinformed buy the wrong stuff expecting brilliant results. I work in car sound at JB Hi-Fi doing sales so it probably seems I am trying to up sell you, but seriously dude, you wont regret it. Plus, with less speakers, it means that you will have more power per channel to put into the speakers you do have. (Providing that the specs all match up and you aren't going to explode anything.)
A big misconception with car audio is that by adding more, you will hear more in terms of sound volume. This is infact incorrect. Doubling the amplifier power does not double the sound output (same as adding more speakers, you just add more load). Basically if you double a systems power, you will only add approximately 3dB of volume to what is output. SPL is calculated using a logarithmic scale. So, to put it in simple terms, to (approximately) double the sound would take roughly 10dB of change. This works out to a little over three "doublings" of power. So if you have 100 watts of power you would need to double that 200 watts, double that to 400 watts and then double that again to 800 watts. That would give you a 9dB increase. To truly get the 10dB increase you would need roughly 1,000 watts increase in power.
When you try to talk to someone that has a car that is a big SPL car, you notice you start going deaf from listening to them yell. Also remember that you are dealing with a MightyBoy, you are in a tight enclosure with a loose pane of glass filling the rear. You could well end up with cracks and explosions of glass and the sardine can that makes up the body. Which brings me to my next question; Have you done any sound proofing/deadening. Migtyboys are designed around an aluminum coke tin, so the panels have a lot of flex and vibrations. Not a good thing when you want good sound. Look here:

toy550 wrote:Personally I think you will get better sound quality running 6"splits than running those 6x9. The 6x9 are good with cars that dont run subs. I originally had 6x9 in my car and then swap them for the 6"splits which sound heaps better and more clear. These speakers will give you more high frequency and let your subs do the low bass.
Here's my setup from behind the seats:
Nice looking setup you have there man, looks very professional. Do you have any audio gear to fill in the front or is it all back there? You will notice a big difference if you have a well balanced front stage as that is actually the way that you listen to music. You go to a concert you don't stand with your back to the performers and speakers/PA, you stand face on so that the sound is coming straight at you. It's the way we are designed to listen to stuff.

1:Xplod is Sony, poor quality shit. Sony used to be good, but when they started making Xplod equiptment, they died in quality and they are renound for doing just that, exploding.
Now you have said that you want good sound and good bass, my opinion is for the amp, look at one of the big American companies like Kicker. They build them big and tough and they do give nice response along with nice deep bass, for speakers I would look at either Soundstream or JL audio as they are the best in the business as far as very commercially available products are concerned. Or, look at maybe Digital Dynamics if you have a nice budget and want some wonderful gear. All this depends on what music you intend to play/listen to every day. No point buying a sound system that will sound awesome with dance music to play classical music on.
But again, that is my opinion, and lots of people will disagree with that. Go into some stores and have a good listen to the gear. Screw Supercheap and AutoPro etc. Go to a real shop that specializes in car audio and speak to a guy there. Be informed before you go too so that you don't get conned into buying the latest and greatest dud on the market that will give him a nice commission for telling a whole lot of crap. Know what you want before you buy, and try before you buy.
