JOCK'S THINK TANK
Just a few thougths for Bradley and
you guys that tinker with the little animals
Tthink it would be possible or practical to rebore the standard F8B body to bring it up to 1000 cc [ + new pistons and rings to suit ] Would there be enough meat left on the block since I don't think a huge increase would be required
If possible it woud seem an easier way to go for performance than sticking on blowers and such
Could need bigger carby but I reckon the rest of the gear could handle it
Has anyone tried this ? Or is the 58B essentially just a rebored to the limit F5A ?

Should help you out quiet a bit. There is a Technical FAQ in this section which has lots of info. Try having a quiz on there in future. Here is the link:

To answer your question, the largest you can bore an F8B out to is just shy of 900cc - but then you get reliability issues because the cylinder walls are too thin.

You can reliably bore + stroke to about 850cc - Colin's F8B is 841cc from memory.
F8B EFI turbo - Three pots and a snail.

Why go to that trouble when a G10a and 5 speed from a GA or later Swift can easily be grafted in.
So many delays to getting my MB back in order with 993cc & 5 speed transaxle... neighbor issue gone, donor shell up on rotisserie, new sheds on the way.... another project also..

How easily are we talking? thought it was far from a direct swap and the gearbox leaves even less room for feet then before? :?
