Unless you've got a budget of $10-15k this conversation is pointless. Just sayin'.

What engine would you use thats rwd and worth while spending the money on doing it. A rotary? Not possible, they are classified as a 2.6 (13b) and legal limit is 1.3. Then the gearbox, where will it go. I'v considered it, but there will be no room to sit. Bike engine and box could be done, but cant register a bike engined car. Then theres the steering rack. Best bet is to build one on a sierra chassis, there rwd.

Other option is AWD drive line from an all wheel drive Alto.I think it has been done before.

Possible because the gearbox doesnt need a tunnel, just a frontand rear diff.

If you were even remotely serious about RWD you would be looking at mounting the engine is the tray and making it a mid mount set-up. You would be able to fabricate a sub-frame assembly that would house the engine and box this could then be tied to the body.

Also there is no reason that you can't engineer a bike engine in a car it just has to have a functioning reverse gear and pass the required emissions and noise laws.

Mates with quite a few kit car builders and they have been trying. Its possible to make a reverse gear and get emissions down, but engineering is the killer.

Last rear drive MB I saw was a drag car built by a college in or near Toowoomba. I think it had a Rover V8 rear mounted, don't remember much about it but it was online so the article may still be available.

I bumped into a guy at Summernats last year who was building an MB with a bike engine in the back. Strictly for track use though, much like the Rover V8 powered MightyBoy and the two MB's at Summernats each year which are basically tube frames with MightyBoy bodies welded over the top.

Short of building an ICV the only way to achieve a RWD MightyBoy is to rebody a Sierra, but then you're left with 4WD right height.
